The MBUSD Green Committee is comprised of parents, the director of maintenance and operations, city officials, principals, and local green organizations. The purpose of the committee is to coordinate schools' efforts to reduce MBUSD’s carbon footprint and their efforts to educate children about being green. Grand View Elementary School was one of the nation’s first ever Green Ribbon Schools in 2012. MBUSD was a silver award winner green ribbon district in 2015.
