Former California Department of Education Accountability Systems

Academic Performance Index (API): The outdated cornerstone of California's Public Schools Accountability Act of 1999; measures the academic performance and growth of schools on a variety of academic measures for 1999-2013.

Accountability Progress Reporting (APR): California's integrated accountability system that reports both the state Academic Performance Index (API), and the federal Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and Program Improvement (PI).

Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP): The former statewide accountability system mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 which requires each state to ensure that all schools and districts make Adequate Yearly Progress.
