Parent Workshops

Throughout the year we offer a variety of parent workshops.  Below are the details of our latest series.

AdaptED Parent Workshops on Brain Plasticity/Growth Mindset

February 10, 2017 AdaptED Attention and Motivation MBMS Parent Workshop: Motivation is a powerful force that helps determine what we want or need to pay attention to at any given moment. We will present the basics of the brain’s attentional processes in order to underscore its critical role in focus, self-control and drive.
January 20, 2017 AdaptED Plasticity and Mindset MBMS Parent Workshop: We make neuroscience completely accessible through hands-on activities and engaging discussions that teach the basics of plasticity. When parents understand how neurons and their connections change with experience and effort, they can support an ideal learning mindset at home with appropriate expectations as well as effective encouragement and feedback.
September 30, 2016 AdaptED Emotion and Empathy Workshop.

April 18, 2016 Elementary Report Card Parent Workshop

The Mathematical Mind: Grade Level Sessions

This series of workshops is designed for parents to understand what their children will be learning by grade level. A Balanced Mathematics approach that incorporates Common Core Standards in Mathematics and Cognitively Guided Instruction will be discussed. Connections will be made between what students are learning in the classroom and how parents can support mathematics learning at home.  The December sessions will focus on what parents can do to help their students at home, and the sessions after the New Year will focus on the purpose of what students are learning in class.

Please note that some sessions will be streamed and recorded.  Click here to watch the LiveStream (only available during and after the times listed below)
