Course Title: Spanish II

This course will train students in the four areas of language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Instructor and students will use Spanish in class every day. Participation is extremely important in developing skills and for creating a comfortable, fun environment. Assessment will be based upon homework, in-class assignments, group work, quizzes, tests, and presentations.

This course serves as the second semester of Spanish 1-2 at Mira Costa. Those students who successfully complete this course will be prepared to study Spanish 3-4 in 9th grade.

Incomplete work = no credit

Late work = no credit

Made up late or incomplete work = 0+ and reflects student effort (due the following day)

Grading Policy:

All grading is done on a percentage basis. The cut off for letter grades is the same

for all classes at the Middle School. See student planner (page 9).

Absentee Procedures:

Students are responsible for making up missed work, quizzes, exams.

If out ill, work is due the day after the student's return.

If absent because of an appointment, early dismissal, etc. the student is expected to stop in, get assignments and have the work completed on time.

Students can copy the class activities and homework from the posted classroom calendar.

Students may also call a study buddy.

 

Classroom Expectations:

Be prepared! The Spanish section of each student's binder will include: grade sheet, handouts, and a section for notes with lined paper. Students are expected to have in class every day: journal (provided), workbook, pen and pencil, highlighter, and a reading book.

Backpacks are left in the back of the room every day. Students are expected to have all their materials at their desk and be seated before the bell rings.
