Techno Kids

Pennekamp's Technology Center is a great place for students to learn about technology and to find out about the world and themselves.
We have Internet-accessible pc computers with many peripherals that the students use and integrate into their work.

Students visit the Technology Center with their class once a week. Kindergarten's through Second Grade's visits are thirty minutes long, Third through Fifth Grades come for forty-five minutes. Each Fourth and Fifth Grade class comes in 3 times a week (rotating every three weeks) to study math, science, or social science.

A special thanks goes to our PTA for their continued support of
technology at Pennekamp!

All About Ms. Hayes

I was born in Hawthorne, CA, and went to Kit Carson Elementary School.
I moved to Virginia for a while, but came back
and went to Rolling Hills High School.
I have one daughter who is married and is a professional dancer.
She teaches dance—hip hop and ballet—and dances with the Philadelphia Opera.

My background
Graduated, B.A., University of California at Berkeley.
GO BEARS!

Experience

My first job was a key-punch operator and I have been working with computers ever since. I have taught children and adults about computers for seven years. What a fun job. I have more toys than anyone, do I win?

Hobbies/Interests
Reading, walking in the forest and putting my feet in a cold stream, looking at clouds, painting, sewing, cooking, researching my newest interest at some really big library and cutting stuff with my table saw. I'm also studying electronic circuitry and Sanskrit at home. In the summer I teach a robotics course for Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth.

Here is a list of supplies we could use in the Technology Center:
Tapes for the VCR and video cameras
More LEGO parts
Kleenex
And any cool thing you think the kids would like!
