One of our amazing 3rd grade teachers told me this story.  

We have been working on contractions. We have = we've. Have not = Haven't. Let us = Let's. We had a Growing Great lesson and the parent docent asked the children to write the name of a green vegetable a person might eat in a salad. One of the students, clearing utilizing previously learned skills, wrote "let's." 

I love it!
