Today is a great day in our District and our community. Today, California State Superintendent Tom Torlakson announced that the California State Teacher of the Year is our own Maggie Mabery, a science teacher from Manhattan Beach Middle School! This follows last year’s announcement that our own Michael Hayden was one of five California State Teachers of the Year. This is an incredible achievement for Maggie and an incredible honor for all of our employees and our community. Maggie will now represent the entire state of California in the National Teacher of the Year competition. I know that our community and our state will be incredibly proud of this accomplishment, as Maggie represents the kind of teaching that so ably represents our teachers in MBUSD – student-centered, 21st century teaching that integrates technology and most of all, is joyful and passionate every single day.
Congratulations to Maggie and congratulations to our entire community! Today is a great day!
