Did you know that more than 8 million tons of plastic enter our oceans every year? It primarily comes from litter left on land and beaches (80 percent of which is plastic). These plastics break down into toxic microplastics that significantly harm marine ecosystems and eventually make their way into the food we eat. Cleaning up beach litter is one way to keep dangerous plastics and trash out of oceans and our food.
