In June, three MBUSD students recently showcased their innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills on a national stage at the National Invention Convention, held at the historic Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan.
Representing MBUSD were Aaron Helou (4th grade, Meadows Elementary) and Sahil Chhabra and Skylar Sorbel (7th grade, Manhattan Beach Middle School). The students were among just 90 California finalists who advanced to the national competition, joining 513 additional finalists from across the country.
Qualifying for the National Invention Convention is an impressive achievement that reflects months of research, testing, revision, and perseverance. Throughout the competition, Aaron, Sahil, and Skylar demonstrated their creativity and innovation while sharing their projects through recorded presentations and in-person judging sessions.
While the students did not receive awards this year, they represented MBUSD with confidence and determination. Their willingness to share their ideas, embrace challenges, and learn from the experience exemplifies the qualities of innovation, courage, and resilience that inspire future problem-solvers.
Congratulations to Aaron, Sahil, and Skylar on this outstanding accomplishment and for representing MBUSD on the national stage! We are proud of your hard work and look forward to seeing where your creativity takes you next.
