Kim Price- Pennekamp Elementary Teacher of the Year
Perhaps Kim Price’s career in education was inevitable as it runs in her family. Her dad was a Superintendent and her mom a first grade teacher. Kim was selected by her peers as Teacher of the Year due to her innovative instructional delivery, creative Common Core aligned lessons, and unwavering commitment to her students. Throughout her tenure at Pennekamp, Ms. Price has made an impressive, positive impact on student learning in her classroom and across the school community.
Kim is a teacher, mentor, role model, and advocate for her students. On a daily basis, she adapts the curriculum to match the needs of her students and incorporates their abilities and strengths into her lesson plans. Ms. Price inspires and challenges her students to exceed their own personal goals and provides them the courage to apply their skills beyond the classroom and into the real world.
She has mastered the elusive art of being firm but fair, following consistent rules yet maintaining relationships, and remembering that although she teaches numerous areas of content, she is really teaching children whom she adores!
Kim knows that her students depend on her and she embraces every day with an open heart and open arms.
The core of a caring classroom is the relationships that a teacher builds with her students. Ms. Price enthusiastically builds relationships by listening to, talking with, and discovering what motivates each and every one of her students. Upon hearing Ms. Price’s selection as Pennekamp’s Teacher of the Year, one of her student’s commented, “Of course, everybody knows that, she is awesome!”
Members of the Pennekamp school community are very honored to have Ms. Price represent Pennekamp School!
