Section 504

Section 504 of the Federal Vocational & Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a law that protects the rights of individuals with disabilities in programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance.  

An individual eligible under Section 504 has a mental or physical impairment that substantially affects one or more of a person's major life activities. 


If you have any reason to believe your child would be eligible under Section 504, please contact your school administrator. For more information regarding a student's right to be protected from discrimination please see District Board Policy 5145.3. For more information on identification and education under Section 504 please reference BP 6164.6 and AR 6164.6.
